INVEST IN FREEDOM:
Honoring Women of Color at the Juneteenth Douglass Freedom Festival
For 32 years, the original Juneteenth Douglass Freedom Festival in Memphis has stood as a beacon of community, culture, and the unwavering pursuit of freedom. From 1993 to 2025, we have come together to celebrate our heritage, highlight our achievements, and honor the ancestors who bravely paved the way for us.
The Juneteenth Douglass Freedom Festival provides a vital space for our community to commune, to strengthen our bonds, and to reaffirm our commitment to equality and equity for all.
We are a festival powered by the community, for the community. Unlike other events, the Juneteenth Douglass Freedom Festival is organized and funded entirely by dedicated community members and partners – like you. We take pride in shaping our own narrative and demonstrating the power of unity.
This year, as we celebrate freedom, we want to honor the incredible contributions of women of color in our community and throughout history. These are the mothers, daughters, sisters, and leaders who have consistently fought for justice, uplifted our communities, and inspired generations.

Beyond the vibrant celebrations of music, dance, art, and fellowship, the Juneteenth Douglass Freedom Festival is a year-round catalyst for change. We work tirelessly with local organizations to address critical issues facing our Memphis community, including:
-
Environmental Justice
-
Food Safety and Security
-
Access to Healthcare and Mental Healthcare
-
Freedom from Addiction
-
Access to Wellness Care
-
Financial Literacy
-
Youth Safety and Justice
Our partnerships with organizations like Protect Our Aquifer, Young, Gifted, & Green, and Memphis Community Against Pollution are vital in this ongoing work of building self-sustaining and equitable communities for all Memphians.
We need YOUR help to continue this vital mission and to ensure the legacy of Juneteenth Douglas is not erased. Your contribution will directly support:
-
The vibrant and empowering Juneteenth Douglass Freedom Festival in June 2025
-
Our year-round community initiatives addressing critical needs in Memphis
-
Our efforts to honor and celebrate the invaluable contributions of women of color
